Welcome to the library of walks that the Imagine Uraidla Trails group has been working on. Members of our community have often asked Imagine Uraidla to help get more people walking more often in our glorious patch of the Hills.  It seems a listing of walks grouped in ‘Collections’ of different types of walk is a great place to start and all these walks either start or finish (or both) in our district.

New walks added January 2022 (see self print maps and komoot app)

Introduction

The best way to find out about these walks and to then follow them is to use digital and GPS technology – just as many of us do in the car.  We have chosen to use an app called Komoot which stores walks in ‘Collections’ and allows you to follow the route on your phone or tablet just like you would in a car.  Or if you have a preferred GPS/mapping app such as Strava or AllTrails or a Garmin etc, you can download the GPS track from Komoot onto your choice of device and mapping app.  You will need to create a free Komoot account.  More details if you click the Digital/GPS via Komoot’ button below.

Or if you prefer the traditional maps you can click the Self-print maps button below and you will be taken to the same Collections where you will find some notes and simple pdf-style maps to either follow on a screen as you walk or print at home and follow as you walk.  On the longer walks, there are several maps – firstly of the whole walk and then each section in slightly greater detail.  These maps are basic and need some care in following them (and perhaps some homework before you leave) and we would encourage at least trying Komoot as a delightfully easy way to navigate (once you have become familiar with the app.)

We have listed two historical walks under the Special Interest Collection and everyone should print out the leaflets prepared by the Historical Society of East Torrens to learn about the history of both Summertown and Uraidla buildings.  Did you know that Uraidla has had two Maternity Hospitals ?

Please enjoy these walks in our beautiful rural and bush environment and the ‘Imagine Uraidla Trails’ group hope that this selection will encourage more in our community to walk more often and we would welcome your feedback in the 'Comments' section on Komoot or at imagineuraidlatrails@gmail.com

And lastly and importantly – a disclaimer:

Please note that we do not own and do not maintain any of the tracks or paths and we take no responsibility for their condition.  We don’t recommend any particular walk for any one individual and nor are we responsible for your safety.  Please read the walk notes and decide if the walk is suitable for your level of experience and fitness and take the usual precautions for walking such as taking sensible clothing and footwear and carrying water, first aid, mobile phone and maps or navigation aids particularly if you are walking alone or doing one of the longer walks in the National Parks.

By progressing to the maps you agree to have read the disclaimer above.
